Vintage Tiger’s Eye Ring Sterling Silver 925 Rose Cut Modernist Size T 9.5 61
This striking vintage ring features a large natural Tiger’s Eye set in solid sterling silver. The stone has rich golden-orange to brown colouring with a beautiful shifting shimmer that moves across the surface as it catches the light.
That distinctive effect is known as chatoyancy and is caused by the gemstone’s fine fibrous structure reflecting light in narrow bands. The unusual rose-cut style adds even more movement and gives the stone a wonderfully sculptural appearance.
The setting is substantial and modernist, with a heavy wavy silver band and large claws that protect the gemstone while leaving plenty of it visible. The ring is stamped 925 for sterling silver and carries an unidentified CA maker’s mark. Based on its style, it likely dates to the 1980s.
