Vintage Large Blue Sapphire & Zircon Ring in 9K Yellow Gold, London 1970, Georgian Style

£518.00

Gold Ring 1.2ct Blue Sapphire Gemstone

A bold and luxurious vintage 9K yellow gold ring, featuring a striking 1.2ct Blue Sapphire flanked by two large Natural Zircons, accompanied by six smaller brilliant-cut Zircons.

The deep violet-blue hue of the Sapphire contrasts beautifully with the dazzling fire of the Zircons, reminiscent of Georgian-style jewellery. Ornate scrollwork on the shoulders and a sturdy claw setting enhance this ring’s grand aesthetic, while an open gallery allows light to illuminate the gemstones, adding brilliance to the piece.

This exceptional vintage ring bears a full set of English hallmarks, assayed at the London Assay Office, including the Leopard’s Head, the English Crown Passant, and a Date Letter P for 1970. The maker’s mark is stamped ‘AGLD’, though the exact maker remains unknown.

Blue Sapphire is the birthstone for September and is associated with wisdom, truth, and divine favour. Zircon, often mistaken for diamonds, is believed to bring prosperity, confidence, and spiritual protection. Sapphire is also the traditional gemstone for the 45th wedding anniversary.

This substantial vintage ring is in very good condition, though signs of wear are present. The Sapphire has minor facet wear, and one of the round Zircons has a small chip, though this is not visible to the naked eye. Despite these minor imperfections, the ring remains an impressive and comfortable statement piece, with its low profile ensuring easy wear.

A dazzling choice for lovers of bold vintage jewellery, Georgian-style rings, and statement gemstone pieces.
