This decorative Victorian pinchbeck bangle dates stylistically to around the 1870s. Its repeating ribbon or fleur-de-lis inspired links create an ornate, sculptural design with the rich golden appearance for which pinchbeck jewellery is known.
The bangle is hollow but substantial, with engraved detailing across each link. A push-button clasp opens the hinged bracelet, while the original-style safety chain remains intact for additional security. Pasted markdown
Pinchbeck is a copper-and-zinc alloy developed in England in the early 18th century by Christopher Pinchbeck. Designed to imitate the appearance of gold, it became a popular material for Georgian and Victorian jewellery and is now collected in its own right.
There are no recorded hallmarks. The bangle is hand engraved “10/6”, together with an unusual indistinct mark resembling “A7P”, although this cannot be confidently identified as a maker’s mark.

This antique bangle is in good condition for its age, with no dents or deep scratches. There is some localised discolouration, typical of antique pinchbeck, but it retains a bright golden appearance.
