Striking, romantic & saturated with colour—this vintage rose gold solitaire ring features a vivid 3.5ct natural Madagascar Ruby set in handmade 18K rose gold.
This vintage gold ring is centred by a bright red-pink Ruby measuring 11mm x 8.56mm x 4.6mm, weighing approximately 3.5 carats. Its open gallery allows light to flood behind the gem, enhancing brilliance. The claw setting is shaped into elegant prongs that rise from sculpted shoulders.
This ring is clearly handmade, acid tested by us as 18K rose gold, and bears no hallmark—a common feature in studio-made or artisan jewellery. The gold has a soft pink tint correct to 18k rose gold.
Based on gem origin and style, the piece likely dates to the early 2000s when Madagascar Ruby first entered the market.
The natural Ruby is large at 3.5 carats. The colour is graded as a pinkish-red, with very good clarity. The Ruby has great colour saturation & is one colour throughout – it is free from any colour zoning.
We would grade as VVS2 – very slightly included. There are some carbon deposits towards the very bottom of the Ruby & a small zircon inclusion that you can see in the pictures – typical of untreated Madagascar stones. This is generally not eye visible, but the photography lights have highlighted it. It is very clear & considerably better than most.
