This week we have discovered jewellery by Joachim S’Paliu of Spain.

As I have mentioned before, we always have a large back catalogue of items that need to be listed for sale. As a result, we ALWAYS have ‘discoveries’ -its just things we knew nothing about up to that moment.

Lately, we have been collecting quite a pile of Modernist jewellery. Well, I say we, it is usually me. I have a bit of a thing for Norwegian Silver / Scandinavian silver. As a result, if I see something that broadly fits the bill of being Scandinavian mid-century silver, then I will always buy it for Vittori & Hive.

Amongst the enamels & moonstones, was a rather splendid Tigers Eye ring. This ring has a fantastic moulded form with a flush set oval Tigers Eye..

Jewellery artist Joachim S’Paliu of Cordorba, Spain. Born in 1944, the designer was at his creative peak and produced significant works in silver during the 1960’s and 70’s. His pieces are strongly Modernist and distinctive.

In the 1960s, as winds of change swept across the globe, the world was breaking free from the shackles of tradition. Joachim S’Paliu designs weren’t just pieces of metal and stone; they were wearable sculptures, echoing the boldness of modernism and the elegance of Cordoba’s golden past.

His designs were not just mere ornaments, each piece he crafted was like a small sculpture, a work of art that could be worn and admired. His jewellery pieces were characterized by their modernistic flair, a style that was both distinctive and avant-garde. The pieces often featured bold shapes, clean lines, and an aesthetic that was unmistakably S’Paliu.

Many of his designs showcased his ability to blend form and function seamlessly.
