We Start in 2020....

2020 - some point in lockdown

Specimen Gemstones

Hive buys some fancy faceted Topaz & Amethyst, to keep one of his sons amused (whilst trying to teach him something). It is lockdown & no schools are open.

Hive then begins trying jewellery findings, so he has a place for the gemstones, after his sone has finished looking at them. A very difficult thing to achieve.

Old friend Vittori gets involved. He realises that Hive is going to be spending a lot of money obtaining specimen gemstones, that will essentially be useless unless easily turned into jewellery.

2021 - things start to evolve

And a Business is born

1st February 2021

Vittori starts buying Vintage Jewellery, specifically with unusual gemstones. There are a lot of special gemstones around, but not in new jewellery.

Antique Jewellery is too expensive and modern Jewellery is too limited in its scope / sterile.

By now both Vittori & Hive are studying Gemmology with the International Gem Society.

28th March 2021

We buy our first Emerald ring!

19th July 2021

It becomes apparent that Vittori & Hive are going to need to sell some jewellery items onto new owners. After we have had our chance to examine

Vittori opens an Etsy shop, with the intention of reselling our discoveries.

25th November 2021

We list 10 items on Etsy. We have set our goal – we are going to sell a a profit (after identifying gemstones, hallmarks etc) so that we can afford even more gemstones 🙂

23rd December 2021

We sell the first Emerald Ring. To a guy who was clearly unprepared for Christmas

2022 & 2023 - slow growth

Part Time working in 2022

We achieve 30 sales through Etsy & continue to build the stock.

We work towards holding 40 items of Etsy stock.

Throughout 2023

Vittori & Hive increase Vintage Jewellery stock on Etsy to a minimum of 60 items.

Etsy fees are getting high though. We need our own website.

vi-hi.com is purchased & the website built slowly over 12 months.

2024 - hard work pays off

Website goes live

Vi-hi.com went live in January 2024 & was fully operational by 31st January.

We increased out Etsy stock to over 100 items & this is only half what we have. We continue to catalogue the Jewellery we have purchased over the last 12 months.

New Offices!

We now have too much stuff. We need a proper safe, alarms systems & other serious things. Business is doing well, so we venture into Upton upon Severn.
