Brown Zircon Silver Cocktail Ring Hallmarked 1976
£113.91
Here we have a 1970’s cocktail ring. And what a ring! The gemstone in this ring is very impressive – it’s a whopping 23 carats.
The gemstone is a very clear Brown Zircon. Zircons are a natural gemstone and not to be mixed up with zirconia which is lab created.
A natural Zircon is beautiful stone blessed with a colour variation (called a pleochroism). The crystal structure of a Zircon has different orientations, meaning that is looks different colours from different directions.
This Brown Zircon has a clear to mid brown pleochroism.
Clearly the silversmith with started with the impressive gemstone, then built the ring around it. The silver ring is built almost like a bridge to let light into the gemstone and show off its colour qualities.
This ring has 4 hallmarks:
🔸 Leopards Head for the London Assay Office.
🔸 The Stirling Lion
🔸 The date letter B for 1976
🔸 Makers mark ‘AJLtd’
⭐ The Zircon is oval faceted. The faceting is very good cleverly reflecting light from all angles.

⭐ The ring is 925 silver. It weighs 6.5 grams.
⭐ The band width is a comfortable 2.7mm. The central stone and setting is 10mm high, 21mm long and 18mm wide. So certainly eye catching!
⭐ This ring is for medium to large fingers being Size O (UK) / 7.5 (US)
⭐ The silver of the ring is free from any distracting marks. There is a little tarnish in the intricate parts of the silver work.
⭐ This ring is suitable for occasional wear. Zircons are not fragile but this particular stone is very large and easily knocked if doing menial tasks.
