A beautiful & old 18ct gold ring in Biedermeier style; a period in European history where the middle classes became increasingly affluent, giving rise to the Arts. It is specifically 1815-1848.
The design & construction of this ring is typical of the period – the use of scrolls & freshwater seed pearls means it is unmistakable.
This ring also has a rare gemstone – a bright green Demantoid Garnet that gives off fire & just sparkles! It will be Russian & mined in the Urals. Demantoids were discovered in the Urals in the 1830’s, so perfect for the age of the ring.
This antique ring is plain backed & does not have hallmarks. It tests as 18ct+ gold. It appears that one of the scrolls on the front of the ring was once enamelled – there are traces of black & white remaining.

- The Demantoid is round cut & 3mm in diameter
- The larger seed pearls are 3.2mm in diameter. There are small graduated pearls on each shoulder.

This Antique gold ring is very old – around 200 years old in fact. There was some enamel that has worn away. The Demantoid is eye clean & looks great, but under a loupe you can see small scuffs. Demantoid are very soft. For its age, it is in great usable condition.
