Vintage Prehnite Chrysoprase Ring in 9ct Yellow Gold & Silver – Zircon Halo
£178.00 £160.20
What a ring! This rather substantial halo ring showcases a rather rare gemstone.
A large oval cabochon of banded natural Prehnite sits in the middle of a halo of clear natural Zircon.
This Prehnite has a cats eye quality (chatoyancy) much like a Tigers Eye. It comes from fine natural inclusions in the gemstone.
“Prehnite forms in the veins and cavities of volcanic rock. This stone is usually translucent, yet rarely transparent or clear. Cat’s eye formations within prehnite are possible, but rare. It is a rather singular gemstone, with no near relatives, although many are visually similar enough to cause confusion. Prehnite has been mistaken for jade, serpentine, chrysoprase and other stones.”
The Prehnite in this ring is very interesting; semi-opaque & has some speckles of carbon deposits in it.
It is also large at 9.8mm wide x 13.5mm long & 5.1mm deep.
The halo comprises of 16 round brilliant cut clear gemstones – we suspect natural Zircon. They have a fire much like a diamond, but not as bright.
Each Zircon is 3.1mm in diameter. They are of good clarity & colour, although there is one in the band that seems a little yellow.
The ring itself is interesting also. It is a mix of 9ct gold (at rear of band) with silver holding the gemstones.
⭐ Size P 1/2 (UK) / 8 (US)

This ring is vintage & used. It has been loved & worn. It is in very good condition with some marks to the metal work. The gemstones are perfect. One of the Zircon is a slightly different shade – see pictures.
